About the Artist
Suzie "Q" Collins
As a child, Suzie always dreamt of becoming an artist. She could always be found sketching or painting, loved art classes in school and eventually graduated from Kent State University's School of Art. Her artistic career lead her to found her own studio in 2005, Skinny Hound Designs.
She is an accomplished illustrator and designer and produces a wide variety of merchandising and marketing material: decals, signs, magnets, banners (printed and online), illustrations, logos, commercial signage, brochures, ads, etc. Prior to starting Skinny Hound Designs, Suzie worked 15 years as a designer for the largest commercial sign company in Cleveland, OH, where she regularly saw a project through from concept to completion and learned to work with a variety of materials.
Since founding Skinny Hound Designs, almost 90% of her art revolves around retired racing greyhounds, from product design to logos and marketing material for adoption groups. In 2016, Suzie started a line of handmade wood products. She makes everything herself. The new product lines include handmade decorative wood signs and raised feeders that are made from vintage wooden crates she finds at flea markets and antique stores. Suzie also does Pet Portraits. She offers custom graphite renderings in various sizes suitable for framing. Suzie lives with her husband, Brian, their greyhound, "Zin," and galgo "Miguel." In her spare time, she likes to hike, bike, golf and go on outdoor adventures with her husband and their hounds! Suzie and her husband have adopted 7 greyhounds since 2002. They used to foster greyhounds for several years too. I think it is safe to say that greyhounds/galgos may be a passion in their lives!
